ITEDS Meetings and Education

A primary objective of ITEDS is to educate patients, their friends and family, and their treating physicians concerning the latest information about Thyroid Eye Disease and its Management.

Teaching has included international 2-3 day symposia with sold-out attendance of up to 500 participants, 2 day free webinars during COVID with attendance over 15,000, and annual teaching courses at the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

International Symposia

Every 2-4 years, ITEDS organizes an international symposium hosted at a different country with multidisciplinary experts sharing recent knowledge and research in the pathogenesis, classification, and therapy of TED.

6th International ITEDS Meeting

Florianópolis, Sao Paulo, BRAZIL

June 6th, 2024

The 6th ITEDS International Symposium was originally planned for 2022 but was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now planned for 6th June, 2024 in Florianópolos, Santa Catarina, Brazil. The one-day TED meeting will be at the ocean-front Costão do Santinho Resort Hotel followed by two days of the National Brazilian Oculoplastic Congress.

5th ITEDS International Meeting

Feb 20-23, 2019

This very successful meeting entitled “ITEDS: East Meets West” was the first ITEDS meeting hosted in Asia. It had a record attendance of over 500 physicians, students, scientists, and other health care workers from around the world.

4th International ITEDS Meeting

London, UK

June 23-26, 2016

ITEDS held a very successful teaching course and symposium at the QE II convention center attended by over 300 delegates. Clinical experts from throughout the world provided insight into the diagnosis, investigation, and treatment of TED. The latest clinical and basic science research was discussed.

3rd ITEDS International Meeting

Vancouver, CAN

June 28-30, 2013

ITEDS hosted its 3rd international conference on Thyroid Eye Disease (Graves’ Orbitopathy) in Vancouver, Canada on June 28 and 29, 2013. The sold-out meeting focussed on the latest clinical and basic science research and featured both invited speakers and open papers and posters with registrants from 25 different nations and subspecialists from eight disciplines.

2nd International ITEDS Meeting

New York

July, 2008

This was a formative meeting in which ITEDS was established, an international core working group identified, and the VISA Evaluation Form was discussed and adopted as the ITEDS clinical recording form.

ITEDS Webinars

The COVID pandemic halted most international travel and ITEDS has responded with a series of webinars hosted at ITEDS centres, often in conjunction with other international ophthalmic symposia. The attendance has been very high, with up to 20,000 registrants recorded at the APAO-ITEDS symposium.
